Loads of Love – male card November 18, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — Carolyn Bennie @ 4:07 pm

It’s my Dad’s birthday on Friday, so I’ve made this little card for him ….. he’s got a little ute/small truck but I must admit of used a bit of artistic license on the colour and style of the ute in my card…it doesn’t match his ute at all.

Stamp set : Loads of Love

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Baja Blue, So Saffron,

Card Stock: Chocolate Chip Brocade Blue, Whisper White.

Tools: paper piercer, Aqua Painters, Brads & twine.

I’ve water coloured the ute/truck and used a grey pencil to outline it to give a bit of depth. The Bracade Blue cs has been sponged.

Hope you like it!! (and you to Dad) xx

Bella Rose – Scallop edge daisies November 2, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — Carolyn Bennie @ 3:33 pm

scallop edge daisies Hi All,

Well, blogging has been as slow as my card making I’m afraid. It seems my pregnancy tiredness has squeezed out the last few bits of energy I had … the bit I saved for ‘me time’ eg card making.

This is a little card I made for a friend of mine who’s birthday I was so slow on making a card for – I ended up just gave up with the birthday greeting and went the ‘thinking of you’ version instead.

I’ve used the Bella Rose DS paper and scallop punch to make the daisies.. then just cutting into them with craft scissors and added a brad in the center.  A little bit of ink sponging and layering of Very Vanilla & Chocolate Chip card stock – to add a bit of depth and interest.

Email me if wish to buy any of the products I’ve used to make this card.. or if you would like to buy one of the Idea book and Catalogue.

Happy Anniversary Mum and Dad!!

My parents recently celebrated their 50th wedding Anniversary and I wanted to make them a card that was a little bit special….. so this is my attempt at a Tri-fold Shutter Card.

I’ve used a number of different techniques:

Stamping and watercolouring the rose three times. I then cut out sections and used dimentionals to adhere them together. This raises the separate sections and up on top of one another to get depth to the rose.

I stamped the sentiment and then used a sponge to create a soft edge effect.

I’ve used two ‘Build a Brads’ and cut out flowers from a section of the design series paper…. (check them out in the Stampin’ Up! Online Catalogue – my link is to the right of screen) .. very cool.

Stamp set: Fifth Avenue Floral

Ink: Rose Red, Basic Black, Pink Pirouette.

Ribbon: 1.6cm Grosgrain ribbon Regal Rose.

Accessories: Build a Brad, clip out of the Clip Assortment range.

Design Series Paper: Tea Party.

Baby news! August 30, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — Carolyn Bennie @ 8:43 am

Hi All,

I’ve been seriously off of the blogging front I know, but I’ve had a bit of a distraction……. I’m pregnant with baby number 3!

I’m 16 weeks pregnant and have been feeling horrible with morning sickness and a variety of other pregnancy complaints but I’m hopefully on the up now as I’m move further into my second trimester.

My two little boys are very excited and are enjoying talking to ‘Baby Belly’. Chris my husband is madly looking at car websites as our poor magna just isn’t going to fit 3 kids and car seats. We’ll be very busy come February next year with Finn starting school and baby number 3 arriving and Macauley being at home without Finn during the week for the first time….. wish me luck.

So that’s news. Now, back to the stamping!

Cheers,

Carolyn

Fifth Avenue – foolproof water colouring July 20, 2009

DSCF6834

Hi Everyone,

I’m sorry about my absence in the last few weeks….. It’s been very naughty of me to not to have been blogging……. I’ll try and be better!! Promise.

I’ve been having a play with my new set – ‘Fifth Avenue Floral’. I’ve found an amazing tutorial by a fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Patty Bennet, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxCsVlvKIM8

The roses are water coloured using the following method: Stamp your image in Versa Mark on white paper and then Emboss with White Embossing powder (using your heat gun). Spray image with water (I just used my ironing spray bottle and put the card stock in a Tupperware container’s lid) until it’s very wet. Choose some nice ‘rose’ coloured inkpads… pinks, yellows, apricots. Squeeze the lid of your Stampin’ Up! inkpad into the inkpad mat, so there is a pool of ink on the inside of the lid. Take your Aquapainter and dip into a pool of the ink. Place the loaded Aquapainter on a petal and let the colour run. Don’t be afraid to use more then one colour on a petal or to add more water to make the colour run a little more.

Stamp Sets: Fith Avenue Floral

Ink: Pink Pirouette, Rose Red, Tangerine Tango.

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Rose Red, Designer series paper.

Accessories: Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon 1.6cm.

Tools of note: Aquapainter, Sponges.
