Festive Friday Challenge – Valentines Day

Here is my very first Festive Friday Challenge post. The team will take alternate weeks…. so stay tuned on my blog every few weeks to be inspired on getting an early start on your Christmas cards AND join in on making cards with us!!

Here is my first contribution. A Valentines day card (to get you in the romantic mood).

My cards photo was taken on my beach holiday and the sand of the beach was perhaps not the most obvious place for a saucy little lingerie corset ….. think of it as a super model beach photo shoot! LOL.

I’ve had my first play with the Petal Cone Bigz Die to make this card. It’s actually a really super versatile dies, which pleasantly surprised me.  :) I found this corset card on line in a few places and thought I would do my own little version. It’s fun hey? Easy too.

Card Recipe

Card Stock: Basic Black, Pink Pirouette.Real Red Glitter card stock.

Accessories: Seam Binding Ribbon, Taffeta 3.2mm Ribbon, Basic Jewels – Rhinestones.

Tools and inks: Petal Cone Bigz Die, Piercing Tool, Stampin Pastels – White.

Head back to Nicole’s Blog to see what the other gals have made… and join the fun and by making a Valentines Card and linking it on to the challenge…. it’s super easy.

Happy Stamping,

The Open Sea – a homage to Mrs Tilsner

Hi All,

I got my new stamp set ‘The Open Sea’ out of the Summer Mini just before Christmas, and it killed me but it remained completely unopened and on my desk until I returned from my holiday to Coffins Bay. *gulp*

When I did get to have a little play last week, I just had to case an amazing card that the lovely Alisa Tilsner made recently. I had to swap out a few colours as I was very sadly not to have any Not Quite Navy cardstock left… the result is a very nice card…. I really like my card AND I totally love ‘The Open Sea’ Stamp set…. but  I still like Alisa’s card better. :)

Keep your eye out for my February Card Making Class using The Open Sea stamp set (not this card). Photos to be posted in the next few days. Date 24th February 1oam and 7.30pm.

Happy Stamping,

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

I’ve been really looking forward to the Stampin’ Up! Simply Adorned Jewellery coming here to Australia. I was hoping it would combine two of my most favourite things – stamping and jewellery….. and I’m not disappointed. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!  and I’m getting so many compliments when I wear it – there is really something about it.

I needed a bit of help with the photography on this post, so I enlisted my star little photographers, (my 4 year old and my 7 year old sons) and they did a really cool job. Here I am modelling my chain and Bevelled Glass front Charm…. I’ve also added a bit of Pool Party Seem Binding ribbon and Crochet Trim.

Now for a close up of the Bevelled Charm and the insert I’ve made…. It’s so simple and yet super effective don’t you think? The great thing is that I can make as many inserts as my imagination can create. I’m looking forward to making lots more in all sorts of colours and using all sorts of stamps and embellishments.

Chain: 61cm Simply Adorned Chain Stainless Steel Chain. (I like to wear my chains a bit shorter – so I’ve actually moved the clasp at the back … normally the chain would be longer). $19.95

Charm: 2.5 x 2.5cm Bevelled Glass Front Charm. Nickel Plated charm with hinge lets you insert custom artwork or photos. $29.95.

There is a lot more in the Simply Adorned range – bigger and smaller hinged charms, Bauble charms, 20cm Bracelet and a huge range of stamp sets that you can use to make you own personal and individual jewellery. See the Summer Mini Catalogue for the full range.

Classes for 2012 – I’d like your feedback

Hi All,

Happy New Year!

I’ve been away with my family to Coffins Bay on our 2nd annual week long Bennie, Glasper, Humphries and Ross Family caravan beach holiday and then on to my home town of Port Lincoln for a few days. After a very busy December it was so lovely to relax and unwind. Ahhhhhhhh.

This is my little (almost) 2 year old Archer and me. So as you can see… I’m not one to tan.. but I’ve embraced my neon pale long ago. Go sun rashies and sunscreen I say!!

Here are my two oldest boys Finn 7yrs  (closest) and Macauley 4yrs, fishing for the first time ever with their new rods they got for Christmas. I can tell you, it took a lot longer for my husband Chris to rig up the rods on the beach that day then the time the boys stood fishing…. and I’m sorry to report that no fish were caught. :( But the next week in Port Lincoln they did catch their first ever fish. (very excited boys).

And lastly my hubby Chris with Archer….. looking all spunky in his hat! We’re on 7 Mile Beach in the National Park at Coffin’s Bay, South Australia for those who are interested. It’s beautiful.

So now I’m all rested, I’ve started thinking about Stamping Classes for this year. I’ve decided to ask for your thoughts and wish list of the techniques and projects you might like to make this year. For instance:

  • Water colouring
  • Heat Embossing
  • Punch Art
  • Childrens’ Cards
  • 2 step stamping
  • Masculine Cards
  • 3 d projects eg decretive covers for note books, diaries etc.
  • Simply Adorned Range of Jewellery projects

These are just examples. PLEASE feel free to suggest others I’ve not mentioned…. you can either email me direct or leave a comment in on this post. Constructive feedback only please. :)

I’d also like to remind you all that Sale-A-Bration is starting soon – 24th of January!!!! This is my favourite time of the year for purchasing as every $100 that you spend, you receive a FREE stamp set!! There are also extra Sale-A-Bration benefits for Hosting a party at your house!! If you would like a Sale-A-Bration catalogue (free of course) let me know and I’ll get one to you ASAP.

Now…. here is an extra special from me – the first person who books (and holds) a Sale-A-Bration party with me and mentions this post, will receive a FREE inkpad of their colour choice with their party order!!  Email me at carolynb@adam.com.au or call me on 0401 85748.

I’ll be back at the end of the week with a bit of news!!! (and some stamping – promise)

Happy Stamping,

I REALLY love this colour combination… I’m a sucker for brown and teamed up with the aqua of ‘Pool Party’ – this really is my cup of tea.

I suddenly remembered yesterday that I had forgotten to make the Kindy Teachers their teachers end of year gifts ….. eeeeekkkk!!  So I was up until 2am making 11 Fancy Favour Spice Cake boxes and 11 of my Two Step Bird Punch broaches. Here is the result. Leave a comment if you like…. and please SHARE my blog with any of your friends that might enjoy craft, scrapbooking or papercrafts. I need help to spread the word of this little business of mine. :) xxx

What did they put into the Port Lincoln High School hot buttered rolls??

Well I’m not 100% sure what they put into the Port Lincoln High School hot buttered rolls – but what ever it was it’s sure amazing how many of our friends from high school who have had baby boys…. just pure co-insendence?? Maybe, but I choose to think and conspiracy theory and something in the hot buttered rolls. LOL

Our friends Melissa and Duane had their 3rd baby boy recently  … so a baby card was in order.  I pulled out my new fav ‘Under the Big Top’ and this time the lions had their turn. The Big Top Birthday Designer Series paper also got a work out and the result is a style that really sings to me. I hope they liked it.

Under the Big Top

Now this just goes to show how versatile the Big Shot really is. I made this card using craft metal and running it through the Big Shot in the Stampin’ Up! Vintage Wall Paper embossing folder. Yeehaaa!! How much fun was that!? I loved the effect – and it teamed up so wonderfully with my ‘grey’ elephant stamp from the  ’ Under the Big Top’ Stamp set.. giving me a great excuse to watercolour (I don’t need too many excuses for this as it’s my favourite medium to work in).

Cherry Cobbler and Chocolate Chip cardstock work really well with the silver of the metal as well. What do you think??

This card went to my dear friend and dowline Lynne Jones, who promoted to a Supervisor last month. Go Lynne. xx
