MEN! Top 3 tips for designing masculine cards

Top 3 Tips for Designing Masculine cards:

1/ Use Bakers Twine or Linen Thread instead of ribbon. Tie knots instead of bows… it’s hard to make a bow look masculine.

2/ Start with a Masculine looking Designer Series Paper (like this one from the Occasions Catalogue – High Tide) and create with that as a base. Pick out the colours from the Designer Series Paper to use as a colour pallet and pick a co-ordinating stamp set.

3/ Layers – go crazy with layers. This adds lots of depth and while you haven’t used a lot of embellishments like buttons or brads – there is lots to look at.  I like to ‘rough’ my edges too – looks a bit more manly.

Here’s what I’ve used in my card above –

Stampin’ Up! Card Stock:

High Tide Designer Series Paper # 132992

Smoky Slate #131291, Whisper White #106549, Pacific Point # 116202

Stampin’ Up! Stamp Sets:

Bring on the Cake #128490(wood mount)

The Open Sea # 128454 (wood mount)

Stampin’ Up! Accessories: Silver Bakers Twine #132976

  1. Great tips! I always seem to gravitate towards cutsie cards. I need to create some that a beef eating, beer loving dude could really appreciate. 🙂
