Stampin’ Up! Gold Sequin Trim Glamour & Mothers Day wishes

Happy Mothers Day to all you wonderful Mums.  I hope you got a sleep in and lots of love and hugs.    This is my FAVOURITE part of Mother’s Day – the big all in the bed cuddle (after they eat my breakfast in bed). 🙂

This is me this morning enjoying the Autumn sun and trying out my Mothers Day gifty – gumboots. *love*  It sure does get wet up here in the Adelaide Hills and these beauties will get a good workout.

Why not treat yourself to a little gift and swing by my online store? Check out the Weekly Deals and of course the Clearance Rack which is always being updated.

I was up to the wee hours last night working on a project for a presentation I’m doing a Stampin’ Up! South Pacific Convention… It’s now next week!!!  eeeeekkk! I got a great idea yesterday- at least I thought it was a great idea but then while I was working on it, like most of my ideas it turned into something completely different from what it started as. Am I going to show you???? Nope. Sorry I’m bound to secrecy until after Convention on the 20th to the 24th of May. But if you see me between now and then, I’ll be the one with the bags under my eyes burning the midnight oil.

Here is a little something I can show you. A card I made using my LOVE the Stampin’ Up! Gold Sequin Trim. Who doesn’t love bling right? I’ve teamed it up for a modern feel using the watercolour stamp from the Happy Watercolor stamp set in the Occasions mini. I know, I know, I’m totally wearing that set out!!! Here I’ve used my all time favourite Crumbcake card stock – oh Crumbcake how much do I love The? Let me count the ways. W

Thanks for popping by.

What happens at one of my Midnight Inklings Team Gatherings???

Have you ever wondered what happens at one of my Midnight Inkings Team gatherings?? What do those ladies talk about and do??? Well of course you’ll have to come along to one if you really want to know ‘exactly’ but I thought I’d share the photos (there is a lot!) of the last gathering.

I wanted to do something special for my beautiful team so I made a special Easter display to inspire and reward them.

This is the final set up of my show and display table.

Midnight Inklings Stampin' Up! Team gathering

I was a busy girl in my Stamping room for a few days prior to the Friday night gathering making these cute little milk bottle and goodie bags  (Stampin’ Up! style). Love my Stamping room *bliss*

Midnight Inklings Stampin' Up! Team gathering

Midnight Inklings Stampin' Up! Team gathering

What makes a goodie bag a bit more Easter….. a bunny tale!

Midnight Inklings Stampin' Up! Team gathering

Now you know there had to be some chocolate in those bags …… and a few Stamping goodies too.
Midnight Inklings Stampin' Up! Team gathering

Midnight Inklings Stampin' Up! Team gathering

These little punched out butterflies are really elegant – but great for a wedding too. Just a Whisper White cardstock punched out butterfly with a tiny Glue dot underneath.
Midnight Inklings Stampin' Up! Team gathering

So I might have eaten a lot of these little M&M crackle eggs before they got into the bottle……… *blush*

Midnight Inklings Stampin' Up! Team gathering I found some foam eggs on sticks at the local cheapy shop and dipped them in glue and then the Silver Glass Glitter. I used some Stampin’ Up! thread so all the colours matched – so very Stampin’ Up! … everything has to match right??

Midnight Inklings Stampin' Up! Team gathering

With all of the food and Cranberry punch…. ready for the girls!!!!!

Here they are!! Some of my AMAZING team. We had a great night… we even got some stamping done and lots and lots of chatting. Next month is Pizza and PJ’s team gathering – message me if you’d like more info on becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in my team. I can send you information via email or post. 🙂

Midnight Inklings Stampin' Up! Team gathering

Of course I couldn’t go without making a little something for my boys to make them feel special too….. so here they are having their afternoon school treat  (chocolate eggs) with a butterfly on their drink straws as well. Such cuties. Mwha.

Superman Punch Art – A Super Hero 4th Birthday

Calling all Super Hero’s – it’s a 4th birthday party!!

Yes it’s been a busy week of partying, birthday festivities and even injuries at the Bennie household and today is the big day –  it Archers 4th birthday. I just can’t believe he’s really 4 and even though I know he’s not a baby anymore, he’ll always be my baby right?  🙂

**WARNING** – This is a ‘get a coffee’ post folks – it’s a longen….. Read on for party photos and injury updates…

Archer’s Super Hero birthday party (which we held last Saturday) has been a year in the making; in that Archer has spent hours and hours talking about what sort of party he wants and changing his mind over and over and over again. A Star Wars party, dinosaur party, Batman party -it’s almost changed on a daily basis. Finally (thankfully) we settled on a Super Hero party.

I was excited about a Super Hero party for lots of reasons, great party games, great cake making potential and of course…….. fun Punch Art Superman. YAY!

So below is a layout of the punched pieces prior to me putting my Superman together. As you can see I’ve used the Extra-Large Oval Punch #119859 $29.95 for the body, arms & legs and the briefs. I’ve used the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch #119850 $29.95 for the head and hair, the 2-1/2″ Circle punch for the cape (reloading it in to the punch to cut out the bottom bit). I’ve then punched a few smaller circles  and made a few free hand cuts to. I also have a confession. I can’t remember how I made the boots…. yup, I must have been in the throws of creativity and now I’ve been looking at all my punches and I can’t work it out. I do know whatever the original punch I’ve reloaded it in to the Full heart punch #119883 $29.95 to create the top of the boots and cut off the bottom to make the toe section. So if anyone can work it out what the original punch was- PLEASE leave a comment and let me know. Hehehe.

So here he is – so cute. So so cute.

I’ve Sponge Daubered little rosy cheeks with Blushing Bride coloured ink and used a black marker for his eyes. I’ve also sponged all around the outside of the body pieces to give him a bit of a 3d look. I free handed the S for Superman.

The Stamp sets used are:

A Fitting Occasion for the sentiment # 131952

Perfect Pennants #133230 for the star background and the spots too.

I’ve used a retired ‘4’ Die and then applied Crystal Effects to the top to give it a bit more Kaboom.

SOoooooo… the cake.  I do love to make my kids special cakes so I can usually be found in the early hours of the morning prior to the party making some crazy huge themed cake. I found one I liked on Pintrest (love Pintrest – make sure you check out my Pintrest page there too) and then went crazy. My kids don’t really like the taste of the fondant that can be used to decorate with so I’ve used butter icing for the blue sky and then just fondant for the clouds and buildings and removed them for eating. While I’ve made cute little figures before for other cakes out of icing, I’ve found that the kids really like to have a toy that stays with them long after the cake is gone, thus the bobble headed Superman.

We had a blast at the party. We created a ‘Super Hero Academe’  for the 7 little 4 & 5 year olds that attended – with my husband acting as the Super Hero Instructor and me running around making the magic happen behind the scenes. They started at the front of the house all dressed in their costumes and were given their instructions on becoming a Super hero and their empty Super Hero bag (party bag) which they filled up along the way with chocolates, balloons etc etc

They had to crawl through scary tunnels and then dangerous spider webs….

Have a super fly over the city to check for villains……

Then practise their Spider Man web shooting skills on some nasty ‘big brother’ villains hiding in the bath tub… (oh man there was a lot of silly string in the bathroom after that – thanks for cleaning that up Trish).

They had to detonate bombs – (don’t panic just stomping on balloons), scare bad guys with super bubble blowing devices and make their own special super masks (Yes, I had to get some paper craft in there somewhere).

So all in all they had a HUGE time. Was I tired after????? OH YEAH!!!!

And for the injury?? Well with an hour before the party to go I could be found laying on the floor in the kitchen feeling all faint with my hubby desperately trying to stop my thumb from bleeding. Seems ‘someone’ (hubby Chris) had put a broken coffee mug in the rubbish bin and not wrapped it up – but don’t worry I found in while pushing down some paper- the hard way. Ouch! Of course the show must go on and with 7 little kids about to arrive all costumed up and ready to party there was no time for stitches. I have to tell you though it’s been making crafting a little tricky but I think its on the mend now.

So thanks for popping by and reading this really long post. I’d love to hear from you so please leave a comment and swing by my online store or send me an email if you have any questions.

Card in a box – are you on trend or like me?

Are you the sort of person that has to follow the latest trend? Did you buy bubblegum jeans or hypercolour t-shirts 5 mins after they arrived on the shop? You’re always so cool and on-trend, right? OR are you like me and fight the good fight about NOT being a conformist …….but then end up joining in anyways…. usually when the trend is on the way out?  Yep that’s usually me – but not any more!!!!! Today I’m bringing you the latest trend in the paper craft world now – when it’s HOT – that’s right -Card in a box. IMG_5120So how cute? It folds down for easy postage and then pops up and reveals something really special.

Next time I’ll make sure the sentiment is a little smaller so it doesn’t hang over the edge when folded.

Here’s a few of the items I used to make this little cutie:

Stamp Set:

Flower Shop # 130939 Wood mount #130942 Clear mount

Happy Congratulations # 133044 Wood mount #133047 Clear mount

Card Stock: Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper (free with purchase of $90 or more) #133521  Sweet Sorbet

Email if you have any questions about any other items used 🙂

I was thinking this was going to be a really challenging card to make but guess what? Easypeasy. I followed this tutorial from UK Demonstrator Monica Gale who is simply amazing and an all round sweet heart. (If you’re not following her blog you totally should.) Here we are at last years Stampin’ Up! Grand Vacation in Utah showing the love.

So this card is actually for my beautiful niece Courtney and her wonderful new fiancée Michael who are starting out their lives together and who got engaged on New Years eve. I wanted to make her something special and therefore this card has taken a little longer then expected (*yikes*) but it is now on it’s way to her in the mail – along with a little gift. 😉 Congratulations Hon!!

Remember it’s Sale-A-Bration time.. any order of $90 or more will earn you a FREE product from the exclusive Sale-A-Bration range. You can either order by emailing me or just head on over to my online store and order there.

Now, I’m off to buy those bubblegum jeans and a hypercolour t-shirt- they’re still trendy aren’t they???? LOL.

I’m in love with a White Box & ‘So very grateful’ stamp set

I’m over the top excited about an online order I made a week or so ago… and it arrived today!!!!! But before I tell you about that I must update you on Archer.

Last week I told you about how my little Archer started Kindy and I had a few ugly tears. I recovered but my little man sure was sleepy when he wasn’t at Kindy. There was a LOT of this……..

I have bad news to report, things took a turn for the worst this morning with my poor little fella screaming the Kindy down with a lot of “I want to go home with you MUMMY!!!” and “Don’t leave me!!!!” this continued for about 30mins before the Kindy teacher finally had to pry him off of me while hurrying me out the door. Kindy rang me a while later to tell me he was now incredibly happy and having a great time .*sigh*. Wonderful right?? But then why did I feel like a train wreck all day? I’m now bracing for tomorrow. Wish me luck.

On a great note however…. The white box arrived!!! What’s the white box?? So a bit of back story. As you can imagine I take a lot of photos of cards I make and I make a lot of the cards at night (as that’s when the boys have gone to bed) but I can’t take the photos until the morning and sometimes the light isn’t wonderful even then. So I bought………

Doesn’t look much at the moment but it will once I finally put it all together it looked like this….

But the really wonderful thing is that it lets me take photos like this….

Watermarked Image

What do you think?? Cool hey?

I’ve used a couple of new stamp sets for this card. The ‘So very grateful’ set from the Occasions Catalogue for the flowers which I had such a blast water colouring and the sentiment is from the Sale-A-Bration set called ‘You’re So Lovely’.

What’s Sale-A-Bration? It’s a gift with purchase sale that Stampin’ Up! has once a year that runs until March 31st. Every $90 of product you buy earns you a gift from the Sale-A-Bration  range of FREE products. I love FREE stuff.

It’s a great time to host a Stampin’ Up! party during Sale-A-Bration as everyone want’s to get their hands on FREE products email me if you’d like to get a group of friends together and make some fun Stampin’ Up! cards.

Stampin’ Up! 25th Anniversary Convention – Swaps

Hi Folks,

I’m on holidays with my family in Queensland after having attended an AMAZING few days at Stampin’ Up!’s 25th Anniversary Convention last week.  Chris, the boys and I are having an absolute blast at Seaworld, Movieworld and later in the week Waterworld.

Stampin’ Up! Convention was SO good. I think the best I’ve been to so far and it was actually my 5th so that’s really saying something. Lots of giveaways (I’ve got a lot of new stamp sets ready to get inked up when I get home), my head is bursting with creative inspiration and business tips, amazing new friendships formed and existing ones strengthened…. And I danced my feet off at the new Awards Night After Party – oh my goodness was that ever an awesome party!

Next year Convention will be held in Melbourne from the 22nd until the 24th of May – I’d love you to join my team the Midnight Inklings and come along and experience 700 plus women enjoying what makes them happy… STAMPING!  Email me or call me on 0401 857748 to chat and find out more information about all the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, the great business opportunity that you might be looking for or simply the 20% discount on all Demonstrator purchases.

When I get home to South Australia I’ll be back to normal blogging with more photos and ideas from Convention but I wanted to share with you ASAP my Convention swap (a card front you swap with others – that way you end up with lots of samples of others work, techniques and inspiration). I hope you like it!!  There is a special feather on it called a Hymn Book Feather and the card is made using the technique Emboss Resist.

Do you love my feather? Like to know how to make the feather and card? Leave me a little comment lovin’ to let me know and I’ll put a little tutorial together.

Remember to Like and Share my business Facebook page too as I update this page almost daily with all things stamping.

Happy Stamping everyone,

An Elegant Butterfly punch birthday party

Hi All,

A few weeks ago it was my ‘big birthday’ – yes my 40th. 🙂 I had a really wonderful day and I thought I’d share some of the creative elements of the day.

Firstly, I bought these lovely white lanterns and added LOTS of punched out butterflies from a variety of the Stampin’ Up! range of Designer Series Papers. I’ve used 2 punches, the Elegant Butterfly punch #127526 and the Bitty Butterfly punch #129406 both retail for $27.95 each. (If you’d like to order these punches its easy -just click on the shopping cart icon to the left of screen). I’ve just used my trusty hot glue gun to fasten them to the lanterns. Pretty right?

butterfly lanterns at a distance

I also wanted a way to capture all of my friends with a photo on the day – so I set my hubby to joining 3 old doors together that we had left over from renovating our house and then I just went to town sticking lots of the butterflies to the doors. Add a few props and some old frames and a ‘photo booth’ was created.

the photo booth

We sure got some wonderful photos – here I am being a bit of a clown before the party started.

This is my favourite photo of the day – by beautiful boys. Love them SO much.

my boys in frame

See – paper craft can come in all shapes and forms. I think it was fitting that it played such a staring role in by birthday as Stampin’ Up! and all the friends and wonderful creative times I’ve had have really given me such happiness.

Happy stamping everyone,

x Carolyn

The birthday that never really started but took forever to finish!

Hi Everyone,

A few weeks ago it was my littlest babies birthday. Yes, Archer turned 3! He’s been talking about it for weeks and we’d been really looking forward to his ‘Wiggles Party’. Well things didn’t go so well…. the day before his birthday he became super unwell with gastro and spent the day laying on my lap hardly playing with his new toys at all. 😦 We held out hope he would rally for his party by the weekend but as the time loomed we realised he just wasn’t going to be well enough and we had to cancel… well post-pone. Hard concepts for a 3 year old and his brothers of 5 and 8 to understand – but considering, they took it really well. So the cake that I had been up until 2am making the night before was put in the freezer, the decorations left hanging for a week and they party was shelved while the little man recovered.

A week later …. a week of illness and  a 3 year old asking almost hourly when he’s party was and we finally got to party day. 12 children, party games, slip n slide, party food and party bags and we got to the end of the birthday that never really started but took forever to finish.  Everyone had a blast – especially Archer. Yeah!!!!!

But what about the card I hear you ask????  I love making special cards for my childrens’ birthdays – usually they tell me what they want and being a MASSIVE Wiggles fan you can guess what Archer wanted right? Yep The Wiggles.

I’d love to tell you exactly how I made this but I have to admit I kinda winged it using every punch I have and trimming with my scissors!!!! and don’t ask me why the wiggles have afros LOL.

Then of course I had to make a Wiggles cake….. this is what I came up with .. and yes I handmade the Wiggles with fondant….

and a close up of that sleepy fellow Jeff…

and finally one of the birthday boy Archer. Happy birthday my little man. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Happy Stamping everyone.
