US Convention Swaps Koala Punch Art – off to USA today!

IMG_2862Hi Folks,

Well it’s been months in the planning…. and now I’m just hours away from flying to the USA to attend the US Stampin’ Up! Convention and then onto the Stampin’ Up! Grand Vacation!!!

I was just sitting here being a bit reflective,  thinking about the phone call that started all of this in motion and how out of this world it was to be invited to attend as a guest of Achieving Demonstrator my friend Angela Sargeant. I jumped around the room and went from being speechless to blabbering to my husband for hours. To attend  but one of these events is a dream come true but to be able to do both is just out of this world. I’m blown away by the gift I’ve been given. Thank you Angela… we’re going to have a blast!

With all SU! gatherings there will be an opportunity to swap cards with other demonstrators. A chance to meet, chat and get inspiration from others creativity. I couldn’t miss the chance to wade amongst the 6000 (yes I said 6000!) American Demonstrators who attend US Convention. I thought I’d do something that I thought the US Demos would enjoy.. so meet my little Koala. Couldn’t get much more Aussie then that right?

So Koala is a punch art little fella and a bit cute if I might say. I’ve also added a little ‘G’day Mate’ sentiment using MDS on some Naturals Ivory card stock. Here are the punches I’ve used:

Spider Embossing Folder- ‘ Oh no the Spider 8 it!’

Hi Folks,

I hope you’re enjoying your weekend. Thanks for popping by my blog.

I’ve had a wonderful day at the local swimming pool with my 2 year old Archer and good friends enjoying the lovely warm weather. So glad that summer is finally here!

My oldest son went to his best buddies’ 8th birthday party yesterday ….. so an ‘eight year old’ card was in order!!. I bought the Spider Web Embossing folder with boys birthdays exactly in mind ….. so it was time to take it for a test run.

Two things of note with this card. Firstly the spider (a Red Back spider local to this part of Australia) was made using a variety of circle punches and a few strips of Real Read & Basic Black cardstock. I’ve then covered them all up with Crystal Effects Stampin’ Up! lacquer . It takes a while to harden so I made the spider in the morning and left the rest until the afternoon.

Once I had run my piece of Basic Back cardstock through the Big Shot using the Spider Web Embossing folder ($13.95 pg SU! 2012/13 annual Catalogue), I then got out my Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Ink ($18.95 pg 23 of current Holiday Catalogue) and rubbed it over the raised web on the paper to get the effect of the silvery spider web. Cool hey? Great effect.

I die cut a number 8 with the Big Shot and ran it through the embossing folder too…. just to give the effect that it had been caught in the spiders web.

I love it…. I think I have to come clean and admit I do kinda love punch art. 🙂

Happy Stamping everyone.

xxxx Carolyn

Super Mario Punch Art – 5th Birthday Card

Punch art cards just kinda make me smile…. and kids really love them. I made this card last night for my little boy Macauley’s buddy Angus. Angus is a BIG Super Mario fan and I had spotted the inspiration to this card on the internet a while ago and saved if for Angus’ birthday…. the big number 5!!

I enjoyed paying with a few new toys of mine… the Framelits Dies (125598 $49.95) from the new Autumn/Winter mini and the Medium Sizzlits Dies (oh my goodness these are FANTASTIC!!) that I used with some silver Glitter Paper to make the number 5 (115951 $139.95).

I’ve used my trusty favourite Happy Birthday sentiment from the Party This Way stamp set ($26.95) and the Stars are from one of the last Sale-A-Bration stamp sets. The cardstock is predominately Real Read, Whisper White and Pacific Point. Mario is made from Naturals Ivory, Chocolate Chip, Basic Black in addition to the Real Read, Whisper White and Pacific Point.

As for the punches I’ve used?? Well, I have to admit that I’ve had to be a bit creative , especially with the hat. I’ve used the 1.3cm Round Punch, the 3.5cm Round Punch, the Extra Large Oval punch, Scallop Circle Punch, The Owl builder Punch and the Bird Builder Punch.

So a little bit fiddly but cute, Cute, CUTE!!

Photos of this months class to come tomorrow ………. remember it’s the day AFTER Anzac Day, Thursday 26th of April. 10am and 7.30pm. We’ll be using some of the new toys from the Autumn/ Winter mini… and you’ll all get to have a play with the amazing Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

Happy Stamping,

x C
