Flashback Friday

I’m blowing off the dust and cobwebs and re-visiting some of my ‘historical’ blog entries. Some of them are a tiny bit embarrassing and some timeless – you decide. 🙂

While some stamp sets and products may no longer be available –  the card layout and inspiration remain fun to revisit. Welcome to ‘Flashback Fridays’.

Here’s a post from late last 2012:

Hi All,

Here is another of my designs for the Festive Friday Design Team. This week we had an inspirational photo to help us to create our cards. But for some reason I just can’t load that photo.!! Doh!!!! So you’ll have to scoot over to the Festive Friday blog to see what it looked like. 🙂 You can also see what the rest of the Design Team created and maybe join in the fun and submit a card of your own too!

For my card I’ve used my Greeting Card Kids stamp set from page 14 of the 2012/13 Annual Catalogue. It’s a really fun set to colour and has a nice vintage feel. I used chalks to colour directly on top of the news print designer series paper.

Another fun elements about this card is the speckled effect on the Midnight Muse blue card stock. I’ve used my Illuminate Glimmer Watermark stamp set and directly applied the upside-down pad to the card stock. I had already run the cardstock through the Northern Flurry embossing folder (I’m loving that folder right now). I’ve especially rubbing it over the snowfakes – so shimmery!!!!

A little bit of the Glass Stampin’ Glitter, some circles in(circle punches are sooooooo essential to your basic kit) all sponged with Versa Mark to give some depth.

Hope you like it!!

Happy Stamping

Stampin’ Up! Sketched Birthday

Here’s a cool card idea that’s easy and bright. I’ve used the beautiful Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper Birthday Basics  and a favourite stamp set of mine new to this years Stampin’ Up! Annual CatalogueSketched Birthday.

Design Tip: I’ve picked up the colours used in the Designer Series Paper (DSP) to use to colour my stamped image and co-ordinate the matching ribbon. There is just no point redesigning the wheel especially when Stampin’ Up! have done all the hard work and printed the names of the colours used in each of their DSP’s next to the items price in the catalogue.  Using the co-ordinating colours and embellishments just makes your project look so professional.

Helpful Hint: Extra Bling needed? After stamping the cupcake image in StazOn black ink. I’ve coloured the image with Stampin’ Write Markers and Blender Pens. I still just felt the cupcake needed a tiny bit more bling, so I covered the ‘icing’ with Crystal Effects – Stampin’ Up! adhesive/lacquer then a sprinkle of Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter.  Top with a rhinestone for ultimate bling.

It’s a bit cute isn’t it?? I gave this one to my very special friend Jo on her ‘big 40th’ birthday. She likes a more modern card and bright colours. I think I can give myself a tick on all fronts here. 🙂 I’m not one for big numbers on the front of a card – but if you like them you could easily replace the cupcake for a number (or two!).

June Promotions & “is it a bird???”

Hi Folks,

I’ve got home today from a fabulous Stampin’ Up! Convention in Brisbane and then my beautiful family joined me and we had a week away doing the theme parks at the Gold Coast…. (check out the photo and the bottom of this post). 🙂

When I arrived home and opened up my computer I found not 1 but 2 great Stampin’ Up! promotions!! Here is the first one…

Best of Stamps

For Stampin’ Up!’s 25-year anniversary, we’re bringing back some of our favourite stamp images from the last quarter century and combining them into 11 sets, which will release—one set per month—through April 2014. Even better, along with some great classic images, each “Best of” set will also include a never-before-seen image!

The very first “Best of” is the Best of Flowers and is available in clear-mount #133342 Best of Flowers $25.95

*The single daisy is a never-before-seen image also coordinates with 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle punch; item 127811.

  • This offer is available for clear-mount stamps only.
  • The stamps won’t come with a Clear-Mount Block, and you’ll need to purchase a block separately if you don’t already have one. The recommended block sizes can be found on the flyer but this month they’re all Block size E.
  • There’s no limit on how many stamps you can purchase.
  • These stamps are only available through 31 August 2013, so get them while you can!
